    Q & A

Q: Why did you choose to work in reproductive medicine?

When the opportunity to work in Reproductive Medicine was presented to me, I accepted the offer without hesitation. As an OB/GYN provider for the past 27 years, I felt that practicing my passion from a different vantage point would be exciting and challenging at the same time. My past experience in OB/Gyn has been very helpful in my caring for reproductive endocrinology patients. Going through the process with them from screening to treatment to conception has been very rewarding and gives me a whole new perspective on fertility.

Q: What is something about you that would surprise most people?

Something that may surprise most people about me is that I am very competitive in all that I do and despise losing. I live by the motto: “Don’t play not to lose, play to win."

    Q: Who inspires you?

I am inspired by several individuals both famous and infamous. The pastor of my church inspires me to never give up on life’s circumstances and to be unselfish when dealing with others. Barack Obama inspires me to believe that I can be whatever I want to be in life.

Q: What are your hobbies and why do you enjoy them?

My hobbies are playing tennis and crocheting. I have been playing tennis for more than 20 years competitively in United States Tennis Association Leagues. Playing tennis keeps me fit and healthy while having fun at the same time. I love crocheting because my family and friends are happy when I make them a blanket or slippers that they can use practically. It makes me happy that they appreciate my creations.

Q: What about SGF makes you the most proud?

Being a part of Shady Grove Fertility makes me most proud because they are committed to helping patients dreams of having their own families come true. They are not biased and do not discriminate against any individuals who desire to have a family. So often I see tears of joy from patients and their families who never thought that they would have a baby of their own. I have personal friends that have become parents because of Shady Grove Fertility and the joy that they express is priceless.

Q: What is on your bucket list?

Traveling, traveling, and more traveling is on my bucket list. I want to attend three of the four major tennis tournaments that I have not attended in Australia, France, and England. I want to travel to Africa, Asia, the French Riviera, and the Maldives, to name a few.

Q: What is your approach to helping patients who are struggling?

My approach to helping patients who are struggling is to listen and encourage. I believe that taking the time to listen to patients and their frustrations goes a long way. I try to remain positive about situations and believe that anything is possible. I really want them to know that I care and will help them in any way that I can.

Q: How would you describe your personality?

I would describe my personality as mild mannered and dependable. I can be shy, but I am also out going.
