Home / Egg Freezing Costs

Egg freezing costs

Should you wish to freeze your eggs, there are two components of the total egg freezing cost: the cost of freezing eggs and the cost of using frozen eggs later to have a baby. We’ve been freezing eggs using the most advanced technology, vitrification, since 2009, performing hundreds of cycles each year.

The first step of egg freezing at SGF is to evaluate your current fertility through simple ovarian reserve testing. Following testing, you’ll have a chance to review your results with your SGF physician. This physician consultation will provide you with the guidance you need to create an egg freezing plan — should you freeze, when, how many eggs you may need to achieve your family-building goals, and how many cycles it might take.

Cost of freezing eggs

Monthly payment plans are available for SGF patients through Fertility Finance starting under $200 per month. Keep in mind, the cost of freezing eggs depends on the desired number of eggs to freeze as well as the number of cycles it takes to achieve that number. The optimal number of eggs to freeze varies by age and ovarian reserve.

  • 15-20 eggs: For people ages 37 or younger with a favorable ovarian reserve
  • 20-30 eggs: For people ages over 37 who have an unfavorable ovarian reserve

A person with a normal ovarian reserve will produce an average of 10 viable eggs per cycle, meaning they will need about 2 egg freezing cycles to produce enough eggs to better ensure the possibility of having a child in the future.

Single cycle package

The financial option that’s most often used by patients is the Single Cycle Package financial option. This package covers the cost of one egg freezing cycle and also includes monitoring appointments, egg retrieval, and cryopreservation. There are no eligibility requirements for this option.

Assure Fertility

The Assure Fertility Financial Program is one of the only guarantee, flat-fee programs in the country for people interested in elective egg freezing. This program guarantees either a certain number of eggs or cycles, whichever comes first. Both programs include the cost of monitoring appointments, egg retrieval, and cryopreservation.

Assure 20: People with a favorable ovarian reserve and the ability to freeze eggs by age 41 can complete up to 4 egg freezing cycles or reach 20 mature eggs, whichever comes first. Should a patient reach 20 mature eggs or wish to discontinue egg freezing cycles following their first cycle, we’ll issue a partial refund.

Assure 30: People with a favorable ovarian reserve and the ability to freeze eggs by age 41 can complete up to 5 egg freezing cycles or reach 30 mature eggs, whichever comes first. Should a patient reach 30 mature eggs or wish to discontinue egg freezing cycles following their first or second cycle, we’ll issue a partial refund.

Additional fees for medications

The cost of medication is dependent on a person’s dosing, which is determined by their response to medications. The estimated cost of medications is $4,500 to $8,500 per cycle. Some patients may have insurance coverage for medications.

HeartTomorrow from Ferring Pharmaceuticals provides a discounted price for MENOPUR for eligible cash-paying patients who are undergoing controlled ovarian stimulation (“COS”) for planned oocyte cryopreservation. This discount may be available for eligible patients with a minimum initial prescription for 25 vials of MENOPUR and a signed and submitted physician attestation form.

Terms and conditions apply. To request additional information and for full program terms and conditions, please email [email protected].

Cost of using frozen eggs

It’s important to remember that egg freezing is a backup plan, and not all people will need or use their frozen eggs. However, if you choose to use your frozen eggs, we provide two financial options to help with the cost of using frozen eggs: the Single Cycle Package and the Shared Risk 100% Refund for Returning Egg Freezing Patients.

When you’re ready to use your frozen eggs, additional diagnostic testing is required to ensure you have the best opportunity of taking home a baby. This includes evaluating your uterus and Fallopian tubes and a basic male fertility workup. Should you be using donor sperm, you would only need to complete the female evaluation.

Single cycle package

You may pay for the cost of using frozen eggs on a per cycle basis. This cost includes the egg thaw, ultrasound and hormone monitoring, fertilization using ICSI, and embryo transfer. There are no eligibility requirements for this option other than having previously frozen your eggs at SGF. Other financial considerations include:

  • Outside lab testing
  • Medications
  • Re-freeze of additional embryos
  • Future subsequent FETs
  • Outside fees if using donor sperm

Shared Risk for returning egg freezing patients

Our exclusive 100% refund for egg freezing is the only money-back guarantee available for returning egg freezing patients. Women who meet the age and ovarian reserve eligibility requirements at time of freezing are eligible for the Shared Risk 100% Refund Program for Returning Egg Freezing Patients.

At Shady Grove Fertility, women who follow the recommended guidelines on the number of eggs to freeze based on their age have a 65 to 80% chance of taking home at least one baby. Now patients can pursue treatment without the worry of cost versus chances of success, and without sacrificing high-quality medical care.
