100% Guarantee Programs

  • Shared Risk 100% Refund for IVF offers qualified patients up to six fresh cycles of IVF treatment as well as any resulting frozen embryo transfers. If the patient does not take home a baby or stop the program at any time, 100 percent of the fee is refunded. It’s that simple.
  • Shared Risk 100% Refund for Donor Egg is similar to the IVF program, with the exception that the patient will be using donated eggs for treatment. If the patient does not take home a baby or stop the program at any time, 100 percent of the fee is refunded.

Financing Options

  • Fertility Finance, LLC specializes in providing loans for all fertility treatments. An easy application process and competitive rates provide assistance with the financial aspects of care.

Discount Programs

  • Shared Donor Egg allows patients to share a donor with one or two other recipients  and therefore shares the cost of those donated eggs. Shared Donor Egg can reduce the cost of donor egg treatment by up to 50 percent.
  • Shared Help Discount Program offers a discount on all testing and treatment provided at Shady Grove Fertility.

WMAR-ABC2 A Child at Any Cost: One Maryland couple’s journey from infertility to parenthood.

Last week, during National Infertility Awareness Week, Baltimore’s WMAR – ABC2 put a spotlight on infertility and all of the challenges associated with it: emotional, financial, and the different ways families are built. Trang Do shares the journey of Shady Grove Fertility patients, Tina and Jimmy Stone, and their long road to parenthood. In the interview, the Stones share their story and experience using donor egg for other couples who are dealing with the same struggles, to let them know that they are not alone. Watch the interview.

“Never give up if you want a family, you’ll find a way.”

The Stones began trying to conceive about one year after marriage, and like many couples, their journey was not as easy as anticipated. Filled with loss and heartache, their story has three very happy endings.

After a miscarriage and year of trying to conceive naturally, the Stones came to Shady Grove Fertility where their physician, Gilbert L. Mottla, M.D., diagnosed Tina with endometriosis. With this new diagnosis and previous surgeries and complications leaving Tina with one ovary, the Stones went straight to IVF. Determined to have children, the Stones overcame various financial and emotional hurdles utilizing the Maryland Mandate to cover 3 rounds of IVF. Unfortunately, each of were failed cycles so the couple turned to adoption. After adopting their daughter, Ella, they returned to Shady Grove Fertility to use the Shared Donor Egg Program and Shared Risk 100% Refund Program, fulfilling their dream of having children.

Watch the Stone Interview

Shared Donor Egg and Shared Risk

The Shared Donor Egg Program offers up to 6 cycles for a 100% money-back guarantee for the same cost as a traditional donor egg cycle. The pregnancy rates for patients who have selected this program are equal to the pregnancy rates of traditional egg donation. Shared Donor means that two or three recipient couples will be matched with one egg donor. The Shared Donor Egg Program, paired with Shared Risk essentially cuts the cost of donor egg treatment in half. Together, these programs gave the Stones confidence to try again knowing if it failed, they would get all of their money back to adopt again. Their message: One way or another it’s going to work out. Never give up if you want a family, you’ll find a way.

Early this week, Ferring announced the Dodge Family as the 2013 winners of their Heart to Heart contest. With 1,882 votes, a very happy Aren and Jeff Dodge will be able to put $15,000 toward Alison’s educational fund. Congratulations Aren, Jeff and Alison!

Faquier-Times Democrat: “Warrenton Family’s Video Shows Their Fight for Their Miracle”

The Dodge family received support from friends and family and last week, the Faquier-Times Democrat, released an article highlighting the family’s participation in the national Heart to Heart contest and the fight for their miracle. Read the complete article in the Faquier-Times.

“If more people open up about infertility, then the stigma that surrounds infertility will recede.”- Aren Dodge

The best part of the story for Aren and Jeff Dodge, former Shady Grove Fertility patients from the Fair Oaks office, is that they have overcome infertility. But the family didn’t end their fertility journey after welcoming Alison June Dodge into their lives January 2013. They received an opportunity to create awareness about infertility and took it by storm. After being announced as one of the top 5 finalists in the Ferring Reproductive Health’s 2013 Heart to Heart Contest, the Faquier-Times Democrat highlighted this Warrenton family’s participation in the national video contest.

While Christina Perri’s song, “A Thousand Years,” plays in the background, Aren and Jeff Dodge remain silent while holding up signs that depict their infertility journey in a short video. The Dodge’s entered the contest to spread the word about infertility with the hopes of winning a $15,000 scholarship for their daughter, Alison, in return.

The Dodge’s doctor at Shady Grove Fertility, Stephen J. Greenhouse, MD, says, “I am so proud of Aren and Jeff for sharing their story. Every day we seek to help create families and it is a real joy to see Aren, Jeff, and baby Alison. On behalf of everyone at SGF, I congratulate them on winning the Heart to Heart contest.”

Aren said, “I am absolutely grateful to Dr. Greenhouse & all the staff at Shady Grove Fertility for their expertise, as well as Ferring for hosting such an inspiring contest- advocating for others living infertility!”

Top Questions About Affording Infertility Treatment Answered by a Financial Counselor

Caitlin, Financial Counselor at Shady Grove Fertility, Answers Commons Questions About Affording Infertility Treatment

How can I afford infertility treatment:  A question that nearly every patient asks themselves, and many find challenging to answer. It is one of the biggest barriers associated with beginning the journey to overcoming infertility, and typically the last thing a patient or couple trying to conceive, wants to think about. The Shady Grove Fertility Financial Counselors, or, our affording infertility treatment specialist superstars, are at your service to explain the cost of treatment and the extent of your infertility insurance benefit prior to initiating therapy. Their expertise allows them to help maximize the insurance benefits that may be available to you through your insurance plan.

We asked one of our fabulous Financial Counselors from the Rockville, MD office, Caitlin Sanchez, some of the questions that she receives from patients on a daily basis. We also asked for some advice and tips that would help patients prepare themselves for the financial portion of their fertility journey. Here is what Caitlin had to say:

Common Questions – Affording Infertility Treatment

I’m getting new insurance, what do I do?

Because insurance is employer driven, patients are advised to call their employer or HR Department for details, or contact their insurance provider directly. Coverage may vary based on the location of your employer. For example, if a patient lives in Virginia, but the employer is located in Maryland, their insurance may be subject to the Maryland Mandate, which provides benefits for infertility treatment. Furthermore, if a patient’s insurance is through a Maryland employer, we recommend that the patient becomes familiar with the Maryland Mandate.

What can a new patient expect for the financial consultation portion during their first visit?

At Shady Grove Fertility, the financial team verifies their benefits prior to coming in for their first visit. Even if the patient’s insurance policy says treatment isn’t covered, we will verify with the insurance company, just to make sure. The patient’s financial counselor will provide an estimate of how much coverage their insurance will provide for treatment. However, it is important to note that our estimate isn’t guaranteed until submitted it to the patient’s insurance; there is a chance that the patient will either have more/less coverage than we anticipated. Approximately 90% of patients have coverage for their initial consultation and about 70% of patients have some coverage for infertility treatment.

What do you advise new patients to do before they come in? How can they feel more prepared?

It is helpful for the patient to understand a little about their insurance prior to meeting with their financial counselor. Insurance can be overwhelming, so having a little bit of understanding of their insurance coverage may help them gain some control over their fertility journey.

We advise new patients to call their employer and speak with their insurance company. Also, insurance companies use specific “fertility lingo.” When speaking with an insurance company, a patient will often ask about coverage for fertility treatment and although they are correct, insurance companies might not recognize what they are asking. Try asking about: “In Vitro Fertilization” and “Artificial Insemination.”

More information on understanding your benefits

We are both getting tested for infertility, whose insurance can we use?

Whether you and your partner have a joint plan or separate benefits, insurance coverage for fertility treatment is determined by the patient receiving treatment. For example, in the case of male factor infertility, we would still have to use the female’s insurance because she is still the patient being treated with either IUI or IVF.

If there is no female partner, please contact your insurance company for details.

What should a patient expect if they don’t have insurance coverage? What are their options?

The hardest part about affording infertility treatment without insurance coverage is that a patient must pay in full prior to treatment. The good news is Shady Grove Fertility has an extensive list of unique financial options for patients who do not have insurance coverage. These include:

  • Shared Help Fertility Treatment Discount Program
  • Multi-Cycle Discount Program for IVF
  • Shared Risk or 100% Refund Guaranteed for IVF and Donor Egg
  • Shared Donor Egg
  • Financing through Fertility Finance
  • Global Fees
  • Discounted Medication Programs
  • Cade Foundation: Grants for Fertility Treatment and Domestic Adoption
  • Pay It Forward Fertility Foundation – Grants for Fertility Treatment
  • Medicard Patient Financing (for Canadian Patients)

NBC4 in Washington, DC reports that Shady Grove Fertility’s Shared Risk 100% Refund for IVF and Donor Egg treatment gives patients the peace of mind in knowing they will either have a baby or receive a full refund.

Jeremy and Kia were trying to have a baby for 4 years before finding success at Shady Grove Fertility. After failed treatment at another center, the idea of a guarantee program offering a full refund for IVF treatment, encouraged them to continue with fertility treatment. “To know we had that guarantee, that commitment or we could get all of our money back – that was a big selling point for us,” says Jeremy.

Jeremy and Kia consulted fertility specialist, Dr. Jeanne O’Brien, who confirmed that they each had infertility that were impacting their ability to conceive on their own.
