In support of PCOS Awareness Month in September, Shady Grove Fertility, the nation’s largest fertility center, is hosting two live events to help women with PCOS overcome infertility.
Shady Grove Fertility, the nation’s largest fertility center, is expanding its resources for patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and reminding women with PCOS that a healthy pregnancy is very possible.
Isaac E. Sasson, M.D., Ph.D., a Shady Grove Fertility reproductive endocrinologist in their Chesterbrook and Bala Cynwyd, PA locations explains PCOS in clear, understandable terms in this video vignette, “There are many reasons why women may have irregular menstrual cycles, and the most common reason is a condition called polycystic ovary syndrome, or PCOS.”
Sasson goes on to explain, “The challenge for women with PCOS is that all of [their] follicles stay small, they never make a big one that can be released. They are stuck at the starting line.” Sasson further explains how PCOS is diagnosed, as well as its favorable prognosis for women who are trying to conceive using fertility treatment. “Women with PCOS will often be very, very successful,” Sasson reassures.
In support of PCOS awareness month, SGF is offering a new webinar event hosted by SGF nutritionist, Meghan Sylvester RDN, LDN, of Shady Grove Fertility’s Wellness Center. Patients or information seekers affected by PCOS are invited to attend on Tuesday, September 12, at 12:00 p.m. EST as Ms. Sylvester talks specifically about nutrition for PCOS. Attendees will learn how healthy food choices and positive lifestyle habits can help women manage their PCOS. Attendees will learn how healthy food choices can help stabilize blood sugar and insulin levels and reduce carb cravings, meal planning tips to guide in eating a PCOS friendly, balanced diet, how physical activity can help manage PCOS symptoms as well as what supplements may be beneficial.
Also in support of PCOS awareness month Dr. Naveed Khan of SGF’s Leesburg and Dulles-Aldie, VA offices will host a complimentary PCOS webinar to discuss evaluation and diagnosis of PCOS, possible causes, treatment options, and treatment success.
Both webinar events will conclude with an anonymous question and answer session with the SGF expert. While attendance at SGF events is complimentary, registration is required.
Shady Grove Fertility has published a complimentary eBook designed to inform and empower women, covering such topics as common symptoms, diagnostic testing, and success rates for women with PCOS in fertility treatment.
