Washington, D.C. – Shady Grove Fertility (SGF) events are hosted live throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, D.C., Georgia, and Florida, and virtually from any location. Each event offers an open question and answer session or private opportunity to ask questions of the physician host.
In honor of June, National Men’s Health Month, board certified reproductive urologist, Cori Tanrikut, M.D., will host a Male Fertility webinar on Thursday, June 27 at 12 pm. “It’s important for men who are trying to conceive to take inventory of how long they’ve been having unprotected intercourse with their partner if she hasn’t become pregnant. If it’s been 1 year and she’s under 35, or 6 months and she’s 35-39, or 3 months if she’s 40 or older, it’s time to see a fertility specialist. Also, I remind my patients, if there are any existing conditions that could be affecting their ability to conceive, such as low testosterone, erectile dysfunction (ED), or problems ejaculating, it’s time to see a specialist,” advises Tanrikut.
“What to Expect When You’re Not Expecting” is a seminar series that covers a variety of topics and walks attendees through the different touchpoints of the fertility journey, including who is in need of a fertility specialist, common causes of infertility, testing and evaluation, treatment options, success rates, and affording care. “I felt so relieved after attending this seminar. I had a million questions and wasn’t sure where to turn. Not only was the presentation comprehensive, but the environment was welcoming and unintimidating. I came away with such a feeling of confidence and assurance that I had made a great choice,” shared one recent SGF seminar attendee.
Two SGF events in June will support the LGBTQ community. Dr. Kate Devine, SGF’s Director of Research, will host an LGBTQ Family Building seminar on Monday, June 17, 2019 at SGF’s Washington, D.C. K Street location. Attendees will receive a voucher for a complimentary consultation with Dr. Devine. In addition, board certified reproductive endocrinologist Dr. Ryan Martin, who sees patients in SGF’s Warrington, PA location will host a free virtual webinar about LGBTQ family building options that will include information about fertility testing, treatment options such as intrauterine insemination (IUI), in vitro fertilization (IVF), donor egg treatment, gestational carriers, reciprocal/co-IVF, intended father treatment, transgender options, reproductive legal considerations, psychological support services, and much more on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 12 pm. Following both presentations, a question and answer session with the physician will be available.
“Is my period normal” is a question millions of women ask themselves, especially if they are trying to conceive. “A woman’s menstrual cycle is a great indicator of her health and fertility status as it supplies valuable information that’s useful to us as fertility specialists. What might be normal for one woman might be viewed as something worthy of further exploration and simple testing,” said Lauren Roth, M.D., host of the virtual event “What Your Menstrual Cycle Says about Your Fertility” on June 11. “In many cases, women don’t realize that their inconsistent period, or painful period, or even short or extra long period could signal an underlying problem that we can often easily overcome in order to help conception occur,” added Roth.
