More about The Buckhead-Piedmont Medical Team

Why did you become a doctor specializing in reproductive endocrinologist?

Dr Brahma: I have wanted to become a doctor for as long as I remember. My experiences volunteering at a hospital as a teenager solidified my dream to care for people for the rest of my life. In medical school, my interest in women’s health flourished. Medically, I was particularly interested in hormonal regulation and endocrinology. During residency, I was very moved by the close relationships I was able to develop with patients in the field of fertility. It is so exciting to practice medicine in a field that has gone through incredible scientific advancement over the past few decades. Helping couples achieve their dreams of parenthood is such a sincere passion of mine. I am also passionate about offering reproductive options for fertility preservation. I am grateful that all of these reasons led me to become a reproductive endocrinologist.

Dr Stentz: Growing up, I always knew that I wanted to become a doctor. There are many physicians in my family, and I spent much of my early years observing in hospitals and clinics. When majoring in Women’s Studies in college, I realized how integral the decision to have (or not have) a family is to a person’s life and to their lifelong health. Through my medical training I have recognized that many individuals arrive at this decision at different times in their lives and their decisions may change over time. This is why I encourage all women to consider what they want their family to look like in the future, and when they may want to start that family. There is no medical specialty that allows you to have as great of a lifelong impact as fertility care. While the path to having a child is not always easy or straightforward, it is an honor to be able to help my patients on this path.

What is something about you that would surprise most people?

Dr. Brahma: I studied martial arts for many years, and I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

Dr. Stentz: If I was not a physician I would play flute in a major orchestra. I have been a competitive musician my entire life.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Dr. Brahma: I love yoga, group fitness classes set to fun music, and running. As a family, we enjoy going on hikes and bike rides. The art of flower arranging fascinates me, and I attend classes or read books about it whenever I can.

Dr. Stentz: In my free time I love to garden and go skiing. I love gardening because I can see how gentle care provided over time can flourish into something beautiful. I love skiing because there is no sense of freedom like flying down a hill over a gorgeous landscape.

Who inspires you?

Dr. Brahma: I draw inspiration from so many places. Our patients inspire me with their bravery, determination, and faith. My parents are an endless source of inspiration to me. By watching them, I learned about sincere dedication to family, hard work, and values.

Dr. Stentz: I am inspired daily by my patients’ bravery and grace navigating the sometimes-daunting journey of fertility care. I have always found great inspiration from the professors, music conductors, doctors, and entrepreneurs I have worked with throughout my life. They get to live their passion and work daily to improve their craft.

What is your approach to patients who are struggling?

Dr. Brahma: My approach is to really listen to the details, empathize with the struggle, and help redirect our efforts towards our next step. I can relate personally to the struggle of infertility. One of the toughest parts of the fertility journey is losing control over something that matters so much in someone’s life. Optimism and strength to move forward often comes from addressing questions and fears. My goal is to empower patients with pertinent information to help make medical decisions together. I often tell patients to put some of their stress on my shoulders, and we will make the journey together.

Dr Stentz: I pick up right where each of my patients are when they come to see me. Some have had long journeys even before they meet me, others are just getting started. I want to learn not only about my patients’ medical history but, more importantly, about who the person/couple that I am working along with. We take steps together to design a treatment plan that feels approachable and work as a team while enacting the steps of that plan. Along with my team, we work to maintain open paths of communication to answer the questions and concerns that arise. I am there to hold a hand through the tough parts and share in the joy of my patients’ successes.

How would you describe your personality?

Dr Brahma: I am warm, trustworthy, and optimistic. My family and friends often tease me about being over-organized. I love making “to do” lists and checking off the boxes!

Dr. Stentz: When you meet with me in my office you will find that I am I am easy to talk to, calm, and contemplative.
