Shady Grove Fertility physicians, staff, and patients to participate in annual day of fundraising and support to raise infertility awareness.

Shady Grove Fertility and the Cade Foundation will host the annual Maryland Race for the Family on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, Maryland. Shady Grove Fertility physicians, staff, and current and former patients will join together at this event to celebrate and spread the message that, with early intervention, there are treatments now available to help almost everyone conceive.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a 5k run, a 5k walk, and a 1 mile Family Fun Run. “The Maryland Race for the Family is a great opportunity to come together with patients and staff to support the infertility community and raise funds to help families in need,” said Frank E. Chang, M.D., of Shady Grove Fertility’s Rockville, MD, office.

Registration is currently available for the Race for individuals and teams. Registration includes complimentary zoo access, as well as access to the raffle to win $10,000 that will go towards fertility treatment, provided by Shady Grove Fertility. Registrants are encouraged to participate in fundraising initiatives to give back to the community.

All proceeds from the event fund Family Building Grants that help others afford the costs associated with fertility treatment or adoption. To date, there have been 74 grant recipients and 53 babies born.

The Tinina Q. Cade Foundation’s Family Building Grant is an annual award that provides up to $10,000 to infertile families. These grants assist with the costs associated with infertility treatment or domestic adoption. One of these grants is designated the Savannah Grant. Established in 2010, the Savannah Grant was created to provide up to $10,000 for a Shady Grove Fertility patient pursuing IVF treatment. This grant is in honor of Savannah Caroline Pereira, an SGF baby who tragically passed away in March 2010. The next deadline to apply is July 1, 2017.

The Tinina Q. Cade Foundation is a non-profit organization that serves the needs of families battling infertility through education, outreach, and grants that help couples pay for infertility treatment or domestic adoption. In the past decade, through events like the Race for the Family, Shady Grove Fertility and the Cade Foundation have raised $760,570 that is used to raise awareness and to support the local community.
