With advances in ART, SGF is able to provide greater options for female couples so they can both actively participate in the journey of parenthood. Through co-IVF, also known as reciprocal IVF, each female has an opportunity to use their eggs, or carry the pregnancy. In doing so, couples may use the same egg/sperm source, so their children are 100% genetic siblings or create embryos from each partner. Co- IVF is an iteration of the IVF process whereby one partner utilizes her eggs and undergoes an egg retrieval. Those eggs are then fertilized using donor sperm. An embryo(s) is selected and transferred into the uterus of the second partner, who will carry the pregnancy. Many couples choose to reverse the process at a later time, balancing their family genetically.
