In 2017, one month after returning from our honeymoon, I was diagnosed with stage 1B2 cervical cancer. My treatment included three rounds of chemotherapy and a radical hysterectomy. I was 27 years old and was just about to try for a baby.
Preserving hope before treatment
Dr. Isaac Sasson worked with me to freeze 27 eggs prior to my treatments. Years later, after treatments and Covid, we began the search for a gestational carrier and were matched with a wonderful couple from Buffalo, New York in November 2021.
The family we always dreamed of
We completed all the various steps needed to fulfill a successful journey and our son Frankie was born on May 15, 2023 — on my 33rd birthday. My dream of becoming a mom came true, on my birthday.
Frankie will be turning three in a few weeks, and we are working with Dr. Sasson on a sibling journey with Mallory, our wonderful gestational carrier.
