Patient Testimonial
Dr. Shin has helped us so much in the 13 years we have known him. I’m happy he is doing what he loves in fertility.

Dr. Shin’s straightforward and honest approach was so refreshing as he grasped my personal situation. He was one of, if the not the most, professional and personable doctor I have ever seen.

Dr. Shin was very knowledgeable as well as extremely supportive and accommodating – everything anyone could hope for in a doctor.

I made an appointment with Dr. Shin at the referral of a urologist. During the visit, it was clear that he is a leading authority in the field of reproductive medicine and infertility.

After our last urologist experience I was nervous, but was put at ease immediately after meeting Dr. Shin. He was kind, easy to talk to, and did not rush us!

Dr. Shin did an exceptional job of taking the time to explain things to me in detail. It’s very nice to have that kind of encounter and not feel like you’re being rushed out for the next patient.

Dr. Shin was hands down one of the best doctors I’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Dr. Shin took the time to address all my concerns, and he did so with excellent bedside manner.

Q&A

I was drawn to medicine as a field in college as a way to form meaningful personal connections through service for others while using advanced scientific technology. We are given a tremendous opportunity to help our patients through some of the most challenging periods of their lives.

I was lucky enough to spend time during residency with Dr. Shin and Dr. Tanrikut here at Shady Grove Fertility. After witnessing the impact they had on couples both in the clinic and through microsurgery procedures, I knew it was the field I wanted to specialize in.

Most couples seeking fertility treatment never expected to be here. Sharing that journey and guiding them toward the ultimate goal of having a baby is a special privilege.

One of the things I love most about working with patients is witnessing people make major lifestyle improvements. People are uniquely motivated during this time and use this for the betterment of themselves, their partners, and their future children.

Imagining yourself on the other side of an interaction and understanding their experiences can make all the difference to our patients. Many couples have invested a lot of time and resources before they ever step foot into our office. It is important to understand where they have been to help them reach their goals.

My dad. He is a (now retired) urologist, and seeing his commitment to his patients and always leading by example in all aspects of his life is something I hope to emulate.

I recently asked this to my wife, so I will offer her response: hard working, considerate, and a bit nerdy.

I would love to see the northern lights and travel to all 50 states.

As a former college athlete, exercise and fitness have always been a priority to me. Finding ways to do them with my wife and daughter makes them even more fun, and bonus points if it’s outdoors with hiking, skiing, or even just a walk around the neighborhood.
