Shady Grove Fertility (SGF) is a proud sponsor of the Capital Pride Festival in the nation’s capital on Sunday, June 10, 2018. This event celebrates the diversity of our community and educates, supports, and inspires others to help create full equality for LGBTQ individuals and their families.
As a premier fertility center in the nation, SGF has created a comprehensive program for LGBTQ family building. “Through continuous innovation and new developments in assisted reproductive technology (ART), the LGBTQ community can participate in the parenting journey through a range of fertility treatment options. SGF offers family building options for every type of partnership in a nurturing and supportive environment,” says Dr. Eric A. Widra, Medical Director and practicing reproductive endocrinologist in SGF’s Washington, D.C. – K Street location.
In June, SGF will host a free virtual webinar about LGBTQ family building options that will include information about fertility testing, treatment options such as intrauterine insemination (IUI), in vitro fertilization (IVF), donor egg treatment, gestational carriers, reciprocal/co-IVF, intended father treatment, transgender options, reproductive legal considerations, psychological support services, and much more. The event will take place on June 27, 2018 at 12 pm and will be hosted by physician Dr. Kate Devine, SGF’s Co-Director of Research and a practicing reproductive endocrinologist in SGF’s Washington, D.C. – K Street location. Following the presentation, Dr. Devine will host a live, anonymous question and answer session. Interested parties must register to attend.
“As a practice we are dedicated to helping members of the LGBTQ community achieve their goals of building a family. We feel privileged to have the opportunity to educate couples about their family building options, and to help them begin their path to parenthood,” says Dr. Devine. “We’re able to offer a full range of services, from low tech to highly advanced, and to apply the latest in assisted reproductive technology (ART) to help individuals and couples achieve successful outcomes. Many of our treatment options for same-sex and transgender couples enable both partners to participate actively in the family building process,” adds Devine.
In celebration of Pride Month, SGF will continue to provide in-office resources, host support groups, publish education blogs, and distribute informational emails to help educate the LGBTQ community. New this June, the practice will broadcast new public service announcements (PSAs) and launch an integrated social media campaign raising awareness of the tremendous resources available to create a family.
Pride Festival attendees are encouraged to stop by the SGF booth for information and to meet practice physicians and members of the team.
SGF has two convenient locations in Washington, D.C. with five reproductive endocrinologists and 1 reproductive urologist. The practice has 29 locations in total and 42 physicians serving Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Georgia.
