6 Ways to Save on Fertility Treatment

Save on Fertility Treatment

At Shady Grove Fertility, paying for fertility treatment without the help of either insurance, a SGF financial package, or discount program to alleviate the out of pocket expense is relatively uncommon. Whether or not you have insurance coverage, Shady Grove Fertility offers several unique programs to help patients save on the cost of fertility treatment. Read more to find out which option may help you save.

1. Insurance

Many patients assume they will not have coverage for fertility treatment. However, 90 percent of patients with medical benefits will have coverage for their initial consultation and 70 percent will have some coverage for diagnostic testing and/or fertility treatment. Shady Grove Fertility currently participates with over 30 different insurance providers, including some of the largest providers in the DC, Baltimore and Philadelphia metro areas. Shady Grove Fertility continues to be the preferred fertility center for Kaiser Permanente and was named a Institute of Excellence by Aetna. Click here to see if we accept your insurance.

2. Shared Help Discount Program

The Shared Help Discount Program gives eligible participants a discount on all services, including diagnostic testing and treatment options such as IUI, IVF and donor egg performed at one of Shady Grove Fertility’s offices. The discount is determined on the total household income which is verified by two years of U.S. federal tax returns. Eligibility criteria includes:

  • Annual household income (including business income, rents, capital gains, etc.) must be $95,000 or less based on last two years U.S. federal tax returns (75% weighting towards most recent year)
  • Patient must meet normal medical criteria for desired treatment

Another financial option for patients considering IVF is the Multi-Cycle Discount. This discount program offers patients up to a 40 percent discount off the cost of two IVF cycles and subsequent FET cycles. Patients who may be over the age criteria for Shared Risk, often opt for this discount program. The Multi-Cycle Discount offers:

  • Up to two cycles of IVF treatment
  • Cycle monitoring
  • Unlimited frozen embryo transfers (FETs)
  • Cryopreservation and the first year of embryo storage

5. Shared Donor Egg Program

Donor egg fertility treatmentAt Shady Grove Fertility, the most common way to save money on donor egg treatment is to share the eggs of one donor with one or two other patients. In fact, splitting a donor’s eggs with two other couples can slash the cost of treatment by up to 50 percent.

How does the program work? Shared Donor Egg Program participants share the costs associated with using a donor with one or two other couples, making treatment more affordable. During treatment, the recipients’ and donor’s cycles are synchronized and once the eggs are retrieved they are shared among the recipients. Participants don’t have to sacrifice their chances of success, as the pregnancy rates for patients who have selected this program are equal to the pregnancy rates of traditional donor egg treatment.

6. Military Discount for Fertility Treatment

militaryIntroduced in 2012, the Military Discount offers any active military and reservists a 25 percent discount off all qualifying Shady Grove Fertility treatment and services.
