One of the first questions that comes to mind when a couple finds out they are infertile is "does my insurance cover treatment"?
The good news is that many, many couples do have infertility benefits to cover the initial consultation and diagnostic testing and many also have coverage for fertility treatment including IVF. The news is especially good for some patients in Maryland who may qualify for the state mandated IVF coverage.
We know that the insurance issues and understanding your insurance benefits can be daunting and frustrating and we also know that that "lack of knowing" they can paralyze a couple from moving forward with fertility treatment. That is why we have invested substantial resources in making the financial/insurance process as seamless as possible for our patients.
- We will investigate your benefits prior to or soon after your initial consultation so that you know what is covered before any testing or treatment are initiated.
- You will be introduced to your financial counselor at the new patient appointment to be sure you have one point of contact for all of your insurance questions or concerns. The counselor helps you navigate through the insurance world and helps you understand alternate financial options should you need them. There is one financial counselor in every office.
- The financial counselors are supported back in Rockville by experienced managed care teams. These teams are organized by insurance plan so they become intimately familiar with specific policiies and have contacts within each organization. They work diligently to ensure your plan coverage is maximized.
- For patients without insurance benefits for treatment, we offer a variety of options including:
The bottom line is that we get it. As private citizens we also deal with medical situations and insurance companies and as a result of our own experiences, we consciously and actively organized ourselves to do all we can to minimize the impact of financial issues as an obstacle to pursuing treatment and to developing programs to make care more affordable for more people.
