My husband and I tried for years. We thought it wasn’t our time, and just didn’t want to stress ourselves. But after each attempt and seeing others get to experience that joy while asking what our plans were, we knew we needed to seek help, so we at least knew what our options were. It turned out our only option was in vitro fertilization (IVF).
Finding our people at SGF
It’s terrifying to start the process because you know things are about to change. But Dr. J. Ryan Martin and his team were an amazing support system. They were there every step of the way and explained everything to make sure we understood and felt comfortable.
During the egg retrieval, we only had seven eggs to work with. My hopes dropped, but we kept the course. Out of the seven, two were successfully fertilized, but only one made it to blastocyst. We only had one shot — but the SGF team reminded us, all it takes is one.
All it takes is one
Just a few months ago, we delivered our beautiful, healthy baby boy. Dr. Martin and his team were right — all it takes is one.
So even when it feels like it isn’t going to work out and you’re putting your emotions and body through the wringer, you can’t give up hope.
