In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

Before our infertility diagnosis, life felt simple and full in the most ordinary way. We spent our time outdoors, exploring new places, and enjoying quiet moments at home with our dogs. We dreamed about growing our family, but never imagined that the path to get there would look so different than we expected.

After about 18 months of trying to conceive without success, we knew something wasn’t right. Month after month passed and we finally reached out to my OB/GYN for help. That decision marked the beginning of a path we hadn’t planned for but one that would ultimately give us what we wanted — to start our family.

After a series of tests, we learned that the only way for us to grow our family would be through a fertility clinic. It was overwhelming at first, but we chose to move forward with hope. When we received our diagnosis of male factor infertility, it was difficult to process — but it also gave us clarity and a direction. We met with Dr. Russell Hayden multiple times, who offered suggestions and support on how to proceed. We chose our physician based on recommendations and the trust of my OB/GYN, and from the very beginning, we felt supported.

What carried us through wasn’t just the science — though seeing the data and understanding our chances gave us reassurance — it was the people. Every single person we encountered brought kindness, positivity, and encouragement into what could have been a very heavy experience. There wasn’t just one familiar face; there was an entire team cheering us on. From the front desk staff who greeted me early in the morning, to the nurses drawing blood at 7 a.m., to the ultrasound technicians who celebrated every small milestone with me — we felt seen, cared for, and never alone. Those connections made all the difference and we are forever grateful.

Our treatment lasted about four to five months. Because of our diagnosis, in vitro fertilization (IVF) was our path forward. Along the way, there were highs — the call telling us how many eggs had fertilized, and the moment we learned we were pregnant. Those are moments we will never forget. But there were also lows — the emotional ups and downs, the uncertainty, and yes, all the injections that became part of daily life. Mornings started with medications and shots, and evenings brought more. It was exhausting at times, both physically and emotionally.

Parenthood is possible

Looking back, I wish I had known just how many people walk this road. Infertility can feel isolating, but the truth is, so many others are quietly going through the same thing.

Our journey, thankfully, ended in the most beautiful way — with the birth of our healthy baby boy after our first round of IVF. If there’s one thing I would want others to take from our story, it’s this: don’t be afraid to seek help. There is strength in taking that first step and in numbers. Along the way, celebrate every victory no matter how small it may seem.

We are forever grateful for the team who walked beside us, lifted us up, and helped make our dream a reality. Without them, we wouldn’t be here sharing the story of our son — the greatest chapter of all.
