Shady Grove Fertility (SGF) Welcomes Newest Award-Winning, Physician to New York Medical Team, Tomer Singer, M.D., MBA
Shady Grove Fertility (SGF), a practice that welcomes 12 SGF babies born every day, announced today the newest addition of its New York medical team, Tomer Singer, M.D., MBA.
Dr. Singer earned his medical degree from the Sackler School of Medicine and his Master of Business Administration in Health Care Management from Hofstra Zarb School of Business. He completed his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, NY, where he also served as Chief Resident. He then went on to complete his reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, NY.
He’s board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility and a 2019, 2018, and 2017 Castle Connolly Best Doctor award winner.
Dr. Singer will serve as the New York Medical Director and begins seeing new patients at SGF’s flagship New York office located in the heart of Manhattan next month. Dr. Singer will provide a full range of state-of-the-art in-house diagnostic and treatment options for female and male infertility, elective fertility preservation, fertility preservation prior to cancer treatment, and LGBTQ family building.
“To be able to offer patients in the New York area easy access to a physician with the caliber of experience and training as Dr. Singer serves as a huge advantage,” remarked Mark Segal, Chief Executive Officer of SGF.
“We chose to expand to New York City to serve a region that’s underserved in the area of affordable fertility treatment. We expect SGF’s exclusive 100% refund program for IVF and donor egg—take home a baby or receive your money back—coupled with SGF’s stellar medical reputation will be a welcome opportunity for the residents of NYC and surround boroughs,” added Segal.
“The choice to join SGF was clear. I’ve long admired SGF because of their commitment to delivering patient-centric, individualized care. I also personally believe in SGF’s commitment to make exceptional fertility care more accessible and affordable, evidenced by 85,000 babies born and counting. They stand behind their patients and give them every advantage to start or grow their family. In New York, among many other centers, SGF stands out as a leader because of its stellar reputation and commitment to excellence—which is likely why more than 3,400 physicians prefer to send their patients to SGF each year. It’s all about trust and putting the needs of the patients first,” added Dr. Singer.
Dr. Singer is currently an Associate Professor at Zucker School of Medicine in New York and the former Vice Chairman of Education for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has also served as the Director of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility for Lenox Hill Hospital and as the Residency Program Director from 2012-2019 training over 40 OB/GYN residents and fellows in reproductive medicine and medical endocrinology. During this time, Dr. Singer was recognized as a top teacher, winning several awards including the 2018-2019 Department of OB/GYN Lenox Hill Hospital Teacher of the Year Award and the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG) of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ (ACOG) National Teacher Award in 2018.
For 7 years, Dr. Singer served as the Director of Egg Freezing at Northwell Health System, during which time, Dr. Singer was instrumental in personally performing dozens of egg freezing cycles each year for patients with cancer and women electively freezing their eggs.
“I’m particularly excited to bring SGF’s track record of success with egg freezing to New York. To hold a place in the top five egg freezing programs in the nation is something SGF has well deserved because of its transparency and results. SGF is one of only a few centers in the nation with published outcome data. SGF’s embryologists are highly skilled and have more experience than most centers with egg freezing and thawing, having completed 720 egg freezing cycles in 2018, and nearly 400 egg thaw cycles since 2009.
Dr. Singer’s research contributions in the field of infertility and reproductive endocrinology, in vitro fertilization (IVF), egg freezing, and egg donation have earned him several awards from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists District II New York chapter, including the 2008 award for Best Oral Presentation and the 2009 Poster Prize award.
“He explained everything patiently and thoroughly. He is very smart and has exceptional bedside manner. Dr. Singer is always smiling and enthusiastic but also realistic about the whole process,” shared a patient.
Dr. Singer is accepting new patient appointments in SGF’s brand new 15,300 square foot space in New York City, conveniently located at 110 East 60th Street—minutes from nine NY subway stations with easy access from all boroughs as well as Westchester, Long Island, and Connecticut, and steps from Bloomingdales, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, and The Plaza Hotel.
