Washington, D.C. — Shady Grove Fertility (SGF) is now accepting applications for two one-time educational scholarships of $5,000 each, with the submission deadline of April 30, 2019.

The Shady Grove Fertility Scholarship Fund was developed for SGF patients as a means of giving back to the community. After nearly 30 years and 50,000 babies later, the practice is proud to once again do something to benefit its patient community by starting an annual college scholarship for SGF children.

Applicants of the scholarship must be children conceived through treatment at Shady Grove Fertility or affiliated practices. The practice seeks students who embody SGF’s core principles including those who display compassion, excellence, and integrity.

“In 2002-2003 alone, when the practice was just a small fraction of the size it is now, nearly 1,000 SGF babies were born each year. Today, with well over 50,000 SGF babies born, it’s truly been a humbling experience and privilege to have been able to help so many people start or grow their families,” said Dr. Eric A. Widra, SGF’s Chief Medical Officer.

Applications from graduating seniors, undergraduates, and graduate students are being accepted. The recipients of the Shady Grove Fertility Scholarships will be announced June 5, 2019.

“We never imagined back then the growth of our practice would reach these heights, but we surrounded ourselves with phenomenal, compassionate, innovative people who became a part of our culture, and who chose to make a positive impact on our patient community. The patients who we treated many years ago are now facing another milestone, sending their children to college. It is our honor to help give back to these families who trusted us and believed in the power of what’s possible,” said Dr. Sagoskin.
