The first question that often comes to people’s mind when they think of fertility treatment is, “can I afford it?” The simple answer is yes. You can afford fertility treatment with SGF Atlanta’s myriad of financial options. At your first appointment, you are assigned a financial counselor who will help you navigate your financial options from verifying your insurance coverage to answering questions related to coverage for treatment.
What many people might not realize is that 70 percent of our patients with insurance have some level of fertility financial coverage for diagnostic testing and/or treatment and close to 90 percent have coverage for their initial consultation. Shady Grove Fertility also has one of the largest insurance networks, which offers our patients many options for coverage.
What are my financial options if insurance does not cover treatment?
If you do not have adequate insurance coverage, your financial counselor will provide you with alternate financial options, exclusive to SGF Atlanta patients.
“We recognize the financial commitment that is involved in deciding whether to seek fertility treatment,” says Dr. Anne Namnoum of SGF Atlanta. “Our innovative financial programs are intended to ease the cost of fertility treatment so that it does not become a barrier for people seeking fertility care.”
Shared Risk 100% Refund Program for IVF or Donor Egg
Patients choosing this plan may attempt up to six IVF cycles—with your own or donated eggs—for a flat fee. When you take a baby home, our center has earned its fee. In the event the attempts are unsuccessful, we will refund 100 percent of the fee (some exclusions may apply). You may withdraw from the program at any time during treatment and receive a full refund. Today, about 82 percent of our Shared Risk 100% Refund Program participants take home a baby and more than 25,000 patients have enrolled, making it our most popular financial option.
Shared Risk 100% Refund Program for Frozen Embryo Transfers
Patients pay a one-time flat fee and receive unlimited frozen embryo transfers (FET) cycles for as many frozen embryos as that patient has available at the time they enter the program. This program offers patients peace of mind in knowing they will bring home a baby or receive their money back (some exclusions may apply).
IVF Multi-Cycle Discount Program
This program was designed for patients of any age and/or those who may not be eligible for the Shared Risk 100% Refund Program. You pay a one-time flat fee that includes the following: all cycle monitoring, up to two fresh IVF cycles, cryopreservation, first year of embryo storage, and any subsequent FETs. This option provides a 40 percent discount off the cost of two standard IVF cycles and subsequent FET cycles.
Shared Donor Egg Program
The Shared Donor Egg Program reduces the cost of donor egg treatment by up to 50 percent. If paired with the Shared Risk 100% Refund Program, it offers a six-cycle option with 100% refund for the exact cost as a single traditional donor egg cycle (some exclusions apply). By sharing donated eggs with one or two other recipients, patients are sharing in the cost of that donor.
Shared Help Program
The Shared Help Program is an income-based program that offers a discount on most treatment and procedures performed at SGF Atlanta. Patients are only eligible for this program if their annual household income is $90,000 or less, which is verified by the U.S. IRS tax return from the prior year. Roughly 87 percent of applicants are approved for this program.
Military Discount Program
Active military or current military reservists, who are current or new patients, are eligible for a 15 percent discount off of qualifying self-pay rates. Discounts do not apply when the fees are paid to an outside service. To receive the military discount, you must present your U.S. military identification at the time of your first consultation.
Financial Options for Egg Freezing
“For those patients who are interested preserving their future fertility through egg freezing, SGF is proud to offer women multiple financial options,” says SGF Atlanta’s Dr. Valerie Libby.
Monthly payment plans are available exclusively for SGF patients through Fertility Finance for as low as $195 per month, which includes the egg freezing cycle, plus five (5) years of egg storage, through financing. Additional options include Assure 20 or Assure 30, both egg freezing discount programs, allowing for multiple cycles for one fee.
“Our philosophy at SGF Atlanta is to always do what is best for our patients, which is why we start with the simplest, most cost-effective approach first,” says Dr. Desireé McCarthy-Keith. “Our differentiator at SGF is the personalized care we provide to each and every patient in their journey to parenthood,” adds McCarthy-Keith.
