Fee for service

If you select to pay for the cost of using frozen eggs on a per cycle basis, the cost is $6,500. This cost includes the egg thaw, ultrasound and hormone monitoring, fertilization using ICSI, and embryo transfer. There are no eligibility requirements for this option other than having previously frozen your eggs at Shady Grove Fertility.

Other financial considerations: outside lab testing, medications, second year of storage of remaining embryos starting year 2, re-freeze of additional embryos, future subsequent frozen embryo transfers, outside fees if using donor sperm

Shared Risk 100% Refund Program for Returning Egg Freezing Patients

This financial option offers a guarantee of either taking home a baby or receive a 100% refund of Shared Risk payments. This the only guarantee, flat-fee program in the country for elective egg freezing patients who return to use their frozen eggs to have a baby. The cost to enter this program varies by age:

  • For women who were 38 or younger at the time of freezing: $15,000
  • For women who were between the ages of 38 and 40 at the time of freezing: $18,000

Included: Ultrasound and hormone monitoring, egg thaw, fertilization (ICSI), embryo transfer cycle, re-freeze of additional embryos, subsequent frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycles.
Other financial considerations: outside lab testing, medications, and storage fees once you take home a baby.

Using Frozen Eggs with Preimplantation Genetic Screening (PGS)

While genetic screening is not available for eggs, it is a viable option for embryos. Shady Grove Fertility is also an advocate of genetic screening when planning for pregnancy, and offers preimplantation genetic screening (PGS) for more than 100 different diseases and syndromes.

PGS is available with both the Shared Risk and fee for service options.

Other considerations

When you are ready to use your frozen eggs other diagnostic testing is required to ensure you have the best opportunity of taking home a baby. This includes evaluating your uterus and Fallopian tubes and a basic male fertility workup. Should you be using donor sperm, you would only need to complete the female evaluation.

The first step would be to schedule a follow up visit appointment with your Shady Grove Fertility physician to plan how many eggs to thaw per cycle.
