Donor Egg Program

Shady Grove Fertility Center's  Donor Egg Program performed over 650 egg donation treatment cycles in 2008 and since the inception of the Egg Donor Program in 1994, over 2500 couples have been matched with a qualified egg donor.

These numbers are important because they reflect experience, results and patient satisfaction with our performance and coordination of this complex procedure. The overall success rate in the egg donation program is an excellent 65% clinical pregnancy rate per embryo transfer* and the new, exclusive Shared Donor Egg Program has cut the cost of treatment by 50% without compromising success rates, making it a more affordable option for so many couples.

Egg donation is a fertility  treatment option for women, who for various reasons, are unable to become pregnant using their own eggs. We offer several donor egg programs and financial options to accommodate individual circumstances.

Team Organization Ensures Smoother Treatment Process

Our physicians and nurses are well-trained, highly experienced and highly ethical individuals who place a premium on providing exceptional care for patients. Again, because this treatment is complex, patients going through egg donation are cared for by their physician and members of our donor team department which is comprised of nurses, financial counselors, and numerous support staff.  By creating a department specific to donor egg treatment as opposed to having a general fertility nurse coordinate donor treatment we have ensured that every detail is managed closely and communication between the recipient, the medical team and the donor is streamlined.

Discretion. Confidentiality. Anonymity. These are the guidelines established by the Society of Reproductive Medicine to ensure the safety and success for all egg donors and recipients, which our donor program adheres. SGFC also follows the regulations set by the Food and Drug Administration. Additionally, all potential donors must meet strict and thorough medical and psychological screening before being accepted to any of our donor programs. The identities of the donors and recipients are kept strictly confidential in the anonymous programs.

About Donor Recruitment

Uniquely, Shady Grove staff personally recruits, screens, and matches nearly all of the egg donors in our anonymous donor program. Rarely are expensive outside agencies used. While internal recruitment is a time-consuming process for our staff, we believe this service provides a multitude of benefits for our patients, making it all worthwhile. Hands on management of the egg donor recruitment process allows us to:

  • Manage egg donor compensation - a cost paid for by the recipient.
  • Use local donors to eliminate out of pocket travel and related expenses.
  • Eliminate miscommunication caused by 3rd party coordination.
  • Offer donors and recipients confidence and peace of mind

We know our donors are screened according to our strict medical and psychological standards. When our staff is managing both sides of this complex process more intimate, effective communications take place between the clinical team-recipient and the clinical team-donor. This level of quality control ensures a positive experience for our donors and consistent success rates for our recipient couples year after year.
