Egg Donor Story: Shannon

SGF is home to the largest fresh-cycle egg donor program in the country. Each year, we work with thousands of women who are interested in helping people become parents through egg donation. With 50,000 babies born since the center first opened its doors in 1991, our egg donors have played a significant role in building families; with more than 5,000 babies born from donor eggs and counting.

With a simple online application and transparent screening process, SGF receives thousands of applications to our program each year and we are grateful for the women who choose to donate. One of our donors recently decided to share her experience at SGF and what it meant to her.

“A few years ago, I was brainstorming different ways I could give back. I started by donating blood, which I still do regularly. I still wanted to do something more and felt I had the time and ability to do so. I started looking into egg donation. I can’t imagine what it’s like to have the room in your heart and your home to expand a family and not be able to do so. If I could provide a piece of the puzzle to make someone’s dream come true, why not? After reaching out to Shady Grove Fertility, I felt an immediate connection. I have now donated twice and it is easily the best decision I have ever made. I look forward to the day I will start my own family, but for now, I am fulfilled knowing I helped someone else start theirs.”
