Frozen embryo transfer is a viable option for achieving pregnancy if a couple has excess embryos after an IVF cycle. In this situation, excess embryos that are not placed back into the uterus during embryo transfer, after a fresh IVF cycle, are frozen for future use, which may occur several years later. The frozen embryo transfer cycle is much easier on the patient, as she does not need to stimulate her ovaries and undergo egg retrieval. She instead takes estrogen and progesterone injections to prepare her uterus for implantation. If a couple has frozen embryos, a whole family can be completed from one cycle of IVF! Below are the results of the FET cycles performed at Shady Grove Fertility from January 1, 2004 to December 31, 2006 and FET - Egg Donation cycles performed at Shady Grove Fertility from January 1, 2000 to December 31, 2006.
