Treatment Discounts Assist Over 275 Couples

Since Shady Grove Fertility Center launched the unique and innovative fertility treatment discount program, Shared Help, in January 2009, our Centers have helped make the dream of parenthood more affordable for over 275 infertile couples.

Designed to help make infertility testing and treatment more affordable for our patients with no insurance coverage and limited personal resources to cover out-of-pocket expenses, the Shared Help Program has provided discounts to three-out-of-four applicants to use for infertility treatments such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), intrauterine insemination (IUI), donor egg and more.

"Our top priority at Shady Grove Fertility Center is to clear the obstacles our patients face when trying to start a family,” said SGFC Rockville physician and the brainchild behind Shared Help, Dr. Michael Levy. “We feel that by reducing or eliminating the financial stress of fertility treatment, our patients have a better overall experience and outcome.”

Shared Help provides SGFC patients, whose income is $85,000 or less, and who meet additional criteria, with a discount off the cost of most fertility services provided by SGFC. The percentage discount is based on annual household income as confirmed by two years of U.S. federal tax returns.

For SGFC Bel Air patient Emily, Shared Help was a well received financial option for her fertility treatment. Steered to Shady Grove Fertility by her husband’s cousin who has two daughters from successful IVF treatments at our Center, Emily says that it would have been hard to afford treatment without the program.

“There’s no way we could have afforded more than two cycles of IUI without Shared Help unless we’d put it on our credit card,” she said.

The Cecil County, Md cosmetologist and her husband only had insurance coverage for infertility diagnosis and blood work and their savings were minimal due to her husband being out of work for six months. The couple is now preparing for their second round of IUI after receiving a 40% discount on each cycle.
