What insurances do we take?
The financial section of this website provides a list of insurance companies who participate with our physicians. It is also important for you to know that even if we don’t participate with your plan, you may be able to come to our practice through the out of plan benefit. Also, there are some plans that only cover the initial work up and testing and subsequent treatment is an out of pocket expense. Therefore, before making a decision about your care based on insurance only, try to obtain a complete understanding about your benefits.
What is the cost of fertility treatment?
Our financial booklet contains the average cost for the most common treatments. Keep in
mind that every patients case is unique and the testing and treatment plan
recommendations are based upon individual circumstances.
How soon can I start after I see my doctor?
The start date for will vary according to where you are in your cycle, the
testing recommendations made by your physician, and to for some patients it is also
dependent on the insurance pre-authorizations.
Which doctor is the best?
Our physician work as a group not individually. This means that the standards of care and
treatment are arrived at together, offering each patient the benefit of seven physicians
experience not just one. After the initial consultation, you will mostly likely interact
with other physicians during monitoring or for procedures. We want to assure you that all
of our physicians have extensive experience with the full range of fertility technologies
and that you will receive the very best of care from all of them while you are in our care.
Should I schedule my first appointment before my menstrual cycle starts?
Not necessarily, each patients circumstances will be different and the testing and
treatment plan will vary depending on a variety of factors. We do however, understand
most patients desire to get started and will do all we can to obtain the information
we need to prepare for treatment as quickly as your situation allows.
How long does it normally take to get an appointment?
The average wait to see a physician is between two to four weeks.
Is there an age limit to IVF?
The woman has to be less than 43 years of age unless she is using donor eggs. In our practice,
the age limit for women using donor eggs is 50.
Do you know what my insurance covers?
Unfortunately, each insurance company has several plans available for employers to purchase
as well as a number of riders to cover non-standard care, infertility or adoption for example.
For this reason, until your benefits have been investigated we cant tell you what
treatment will be covered by your plan.
Do you offer gender selection?
There are still important unanswered questions about the success rates and ethics of the
gender selection treatments. The physicians of Shady Grove Fertility have decided not to
offer gender selection until these issues have been resolved.
