BALTIMORE RAVENS' SWAYNE TO KICK OFF THIRD ANNUAL CADE FOUNDATION RACE FOR THE FAMILY

Race, Walk-a-thon and Sidewalk Arts Festival to Raise Money for Infertile Families

 

OWINGS MILLS, MD – The Tinina Q. Cade Foundation (TCQF), a non-profit organization that works to educate families about fertility related issues and offers financial assistance to infertile families, will hold its third annual Race For the Family 5k race and inaugural Sidewalk Arts Festival on Saturday, July 5, 2008.  The events will take place at 10000 State Rt.108, Centernnial Park in Ellicott City, MD with registration beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Hosted by Harry Swayne, a 13-year NFL veteran, three-time Super Bowl champion, former Baltimore Raven and current assistant director of the Baltimore Ravens' player programs; the 5K race and Sidewalk Arts Festival is the first of many fundraisers this year.  The Cade Foundation is collecting funds for its Family Building Grant that provides up to $10,000 to needy infertile families to assist with costs associated with fertility treatment or adoption.

"It is with great honor that as a father of five children that I support the Tinina Q. Cade Foundation as they support families who are challenged with infertility," Swayne said. "The love exhibited by this family is a testament to what life requires… sacrifice."

This year, Family Building Grant applications will be available at the Marlyand race. The grant will be awared to couples on Dec. 6, 2008 at the organization's annual Family Building Banquet.

Winners of the 5k race and art contest , as well as registered participants, will have the chance to win a number of door prizes including signed items by the Baltimore Ravens, gear from the Washington Wizards, a gym membership to Merritt Athletic Club of Owings Mill, gift certificates to Giant Food,  McDonald's, Tony's Dinner Theater of Columbia,  Red Robins Restaurant, Eggspectations Restaurant, a one-hour massage, personal training sessions courtesy of Andrea Contee, and more!

Interested parties can register online at raceinfo@cadefoundation.org for $25. Major sponsors of the Race for the Family event include Shady Grove Fertility, Medstar Sports Health, Fertility Center of Maryland, and State Farm agent Martina Cameron.

"Everyone from runners, walkers, couch potatoes, single folks who may want a family some day, married folks who want children, people with kids, people without kids and people who want to support a great cause are encouraged to come out," said Dr. Camille Hammond, founder of the Foundation. "We invite anyone who likes getting involved with the community and activities that support families."
