Medical Care
Shady Grove Fertility Reproductive Science Center offers comprehensive
infertility evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment to those couples with
a delay in their ability to conceive.
Evaluation and Diagnosis
After your initial consultation with a physician, an individualized,
diagnostic plan will be outlined to determine the cause of your infertility.
This plan is based on the information provided by your medical history
and physical examination. It is designed to focus on and answer many important
questions including:
Once your diagnosis is established, a treatment plan will be tailored
to suit your personal situation. The recommended approach will depend
on your age, diagnosis, the duration of infertility, any previous treatments,
and your personal preferences.

Treatment Options
A wide variety of treatment options are available to meet your medical
needs and may include:
- the use of hormone therapy (medications) to stimulate or support ovulation,
- sperm preparation for intrauterine insemination,
- the latest techniques for minimally invasive reproductive surgery (hysteroscopy and pelviscopy), and
- the Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART's), including In Vitro
Fertilization
The In Vitro Fertilization Program
Over the past several years exciting breakthroughs have been made in the
field of reproductive medicine offering new hope to couples of childbearing
age regardless of the duration or extent of their infertility. None have
been more dramatic than those associated with IVF and the treatment of
male factor infertility.
For instance, now even the most severe cases of "male factor" infertility
may be overcome through the use of successful new treatments such as Intracytoplasmic
Sperm Injection (ICSI) combined with IVF.
Another important recent advance in our IVF Laboratory has allowed successful
growth of later stage embryos called blastocysts to be transferred
to the uterus, maximizing pregnancy rates and at the same time, minimizing
multiple pregnancies.
We have performed over 20,000 IVF procedures, giving
us extensive "hands on" experience using the latest technologies. We regularly
update and publish comprehensive statistics detailing the pregnancy and
delivery rates in our IVF program.

The Egg Donation Programs
Our Egg Donation

Psychological Support
Infertility is a highly stressful experience. We believe that providing resources for psychological and emotional support during the treatment process is an important element of fertility care.
Our Center works with a team of mental health professionals who are experienced, and who understand the normal emotional reactions associated with fertility therapy. These specially trained professionals can help you develop coping strategies to handle the personal stresses that may occur and offer assistance with communicating your feelings to each other and family and friends.
We invite you to tap into the "support network" at Shady Grove Fertility Center. From recommended reading and monthly support groups to our popular discussion series, featuring guest experts, our Psychological Support Staff offers resources for every situation.
For more information on individual, couple, or group counseling, call: Mrs. Covington, 301-279-9030.

Financial Considerations
Coordination Of Insurance Benefits
Financial considerations are an important part of any medical care, especially in the decision to pursue advanced fertility treatment. Our financial coordinators are at your service to explain the cost of treatment and the extent of your infertility insurance benefit prior to initiating therapy. Their expertise allows them to help maximize the insurance benefits that may be available to you through your insurance plan.
IVF Shared Risk 100% Refund Plan
The original IVF Shared Risk 100% Refund Plan was created by our physicians
more than a decade ago to help couples without insurance benefits for
infertility treatment. Now you can choose to pursue IVF treatment without
the worry about the cost versus chances of success... and without
sacrificing high quality medical care.
For a fixed fee, you have six chances to overcome infertility through IVF.
And if treatment isn't successful you'll receive a 100% refund, leaving your
resources intact to pursue other family building options. We believe, like
you, that success means having a baby. Donor Egg recipients and couples
requiring ICSI may enter Shared Risk at a slightly higher fee. To learn more
about our Financial Programs, please call 888-483-0500.
