General FAQ's


  1. Will my physician change and/or will be I be seen by physicians other than Dr. Katz and Dr. Yazigi?

    Your physicians will not change. Dr. Katz, Dr. Yazigi, and Wende Allen, PA will be providing your treatment just as they have in the past.


  2. Is the practice changing location? Will I continue to be treated in the same familiar environment?

    Your treatment and cycle monitoring will remain at GBMC. However, if on any occasion you find that one of the other Shady Grove sites are more convenient, a cycle monitoring appointment can be scheduled there. Similarly, patients whose primary fertility specialist is at one of the Shady Grove sites and for whom GBMC is a more convenient location, they can have their monitoring done at GBMC.


  3. Will my retrievals/transfers/surgeries be performed at GBMC?

    Egg retrievals, embryo transfers and surgeries will still be performed at GBMC.


  4. Will treatment protocols be different?

    We do not foresee any significant change in the treatment protocols due to the merger.


  5. Will Shady Grove Fertility Center still accept my insurance plan?

    We participate with many of the major insurance carriers. Please check our website at www.shadygrovefertility.com for a full list of participating insurance carriers.


  6. Will my cycle authorizations be transferred to Shady Grove Fertility Center?

    Yes, we foresee a smooth and seamless transition for treatment authorizations.


  7. Are there different self-pay options?

    Shady Grove Fertility Center offers many financial programs for self-pay patients. A financial counselor will be available to discuss your alternatives with you.


  8. Is the Shared Risk 100% Refund Program offered?

    Yes, the Shared Risk 100% Refund Program is available to qualifying patients.


  9. Will the name of the Center change?

    Our new name will be Shady Grove Fertility Center at GBMC.


  10. In what way will this merger benefit me?

    Many of your tests can be performed in any of the 9 Shady Grove locations in the Maryland/Virginia.


  11. What will happen to my frozen embryos and frozen sperm?

    Custody of your frozen embryos and frozen sperm will be transferred to Shady Grove Fertility Center; however, they will remain at the same physical location on the GBMC campus.


  12. How will this impact success rates?

    Because the success rates of both GBMC and Shady Grove have been among the highest in the country, and because of our continuous efforts to improve, we only expect our success rates to increase!
